Port Chester, NY — Step inside the creative treasure trove of the Simons Building’s Artist Studios Open House, a two-day event showcasing the vibrant community of makers who call this historic building home.

With the rebuilding of Port Chester well underway there’s a quiet movement of art being produced unbeknownst to the traffic and pulse on the street. Located just steps from the Capitol Theatre and the Metro-North station, the Simons Building—an early 20th-century industrial landmark—is a hidden wellspring of work by contemporary painters, sculptors, mixed media artists, weavers, photographers, and designers.

Visitors will have a rare opportunity to explore working studios, view new artwork, and meet the artists shaping Port Chester’s growing creative scene. Port Chester based arts organization, Neptune in June, will also have an exhibition on view in the building featuring faculty, alumni, and current MFA students from SUNY Purchase. Visitors are welcome to attend the opening reception on Friday from 7-9pm.

Once known as the Ernest Simons Manufacturing Building, the site produced textiles, Fruit of the Loom underwear, and parachutes during wartime. Locals may remember it as “the Linen Factory,” but today the building is celebrated as a thriving hub of artistic innovation—a gem in downtown Port Chester.
